God nailed sins on the cross, and they have no more power over us. We are free, no longer under sin bondage, we are reconciled with God our Father. Our relationship with God has been restored, and we are redeemed. Hallelujah!
In our Youth Gathering several years ago, we asked all youth to write an essay about the death of Christ. Here is what one of them wrote:
"Jesus Death - He suffered one of the most grueling and painful forms of capital punishment ever. A crown of thorns was forced into His scalp which was capable of severely irritating major nerves in His head. His body was horribly bruised, cut and bleeding. Jesus was forced to carry the cross
Imagine the effect of carrying a heavy weight if you were in that condition. The position of the body on the cross made it extremely difficult to breathe. There is no question that it was painful beyond words.
It is clear that Jesus loves us so much that He chose to die on the cross. We didn’t deserve it but He did it out of love. 3 days passed and then Jesus rose from the dead. When people doubted Him, He out did them. All the pain He went through. He did it so we don’t have to do it. Now that’s love!
He went through all the pain so that our lives could be easier. So if you are being ungrateful, think of what Jesus did on the cross. Can you imagine people nailing you on the cross? Can you imagine being beaten? Can you even imagine drinking vinegar? I don’t think so. Jesus did all of that so you won’t do all of that."
The only way we can truly appreciate what He’s done for us, is to realize what it cost Him to paid it all in full.
