With everything that is going on right now in the world PEACE is something that is precious to all. PEACE In our home, PEACE at school, PEACE on the job, PEACE at the park, PEACE at the football game, PEACE in relationships. It does not matter your background, color age or nationality, we all need it like dry land need rain.
Not to say it is nowhere to be found, we are fighting beyond our feelings to find it. It seems like someone is always at war with someone, overlooking others rights and it’s easy to get trapped in these unpleasant circumstances that if you don’t watch out, you can lose control of your thoughts, jump in and add some more fuel to the fire. Have you ever stopped to think about how radical the idea of peace is?
True peace is not found in positive thinking or in good feelings. It comes from knowing that God is in control. Jesus, the peacemaker, taught us “if someone hits you on your right face give them your left”. A lot of people have a problem to accept this passage for they don’t see how it will benefit them. But do you know when you give thought to it; it is the best, right thing to do for if we seek revenge against those who treat us unfairly it will never stop, hatred will be the one that govern. Jesus was a humble man, we saw Him rage but never once did we see it come out in the form of fighting, revenge. In fact when they came to arrest Him, Peter drew his sword and cut this guard’s ear off, Jesus picked it up and put it back on. If you are like me, I know how hard you are fighting with the inner self, press down your twin not to come out, saying “C-A-L-M D-O-W-N.”
Paul, in Romans chapter 12, summarize the core of Christian living he said If we love others the way Christ loves us, we will be willing to forgive. It is our personal responsibility, not the other person, to not repay evil for evil. Do our part to live in peace with everyone as much as possible
It depends on you, live at peace with all. How do I do that? Don’t allow the condition of your surroundings to infect you, agitate you to the point that your spirit is disturbed, robbed of your focus, that you can’t even pray or sleep. Take no thought or longing on the situation, don’t meditate on the issue, meditate on the Word of GOD instead. Remember what we put into our mind determines what comes out in our words and actions. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right, on things that are excellent and worthy of praise. The Bible says if we do this, we will experience God’s peace that surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4:8-9
Good news,: it will always depend on you. Bad news,: there will be always someone to start conflicts. Let God’s peace guard your heart and pass it on. It starts with you.
