The disciples were seasoned fishermen who had spent their lives fishing on this lake, they knew this lake, they were used to storms and managed storms but as for this one, the bible mentioned they panicked. This storm was not like the others. This time the intensity of the winds, the fierceness of the storm arose so, send the red flag signal “ danger” you are not going to make it this time". the storm scared them to the extreme, they shouted “Teacher, don’t you even care that we are going to drown?”
So many, now and then, face some storms that are familiar and know how to find our way out but there is this one that look like “this time you are in for real”, this one is threatened to destroy you, and it looks like Jesus is sleeping in the back of your boat. It seems like Jesus is unconcerned, causing you great anxiety
Jesus is asking today the same question He addressed to the Disciples. Why are you afraid this time? Why are you so afraid that you’re troubled? Don’t you know I care, don’t you know that I, The Lord, I’M aware of what is going on around you, and with you. so why are you sinking into depression? Have I not done wonders in your life before? Have I not proved Myself in the pass. Did I not say I will be with you always, is this the word of an unconcerned Deliverer. Am I a man that can lie that you cannot bank on my word.
Whatever the situation is, we can decide to worry, assume that Jesus no longer cares, or we can resist the fear. Putting your trust in Jesus, is your choice. The disciples underestimated Jesus. Do you under-estimate Him also? Do you think He has power to handle all kind of crisis or just one kind only?
Do you still not have faith in Him? whatever the fierceness of the storm in your life, He will bring you out. When you don’t feel Him, that's when He is at work, when you feel Him the time for victory is already at shore.
. Do you still not have faith in Me? Said Jesus!
